Divali Night

I dress in my sari and step out the door,
Holding my deyas on Divali night.
All the children are playing,
They’re cheerful and bright.
Our homes and sidewalks are lined up,
With colourful deyas so bright.
The children play with their starlights,
Which light up the night.
Children are playing,
While the adults are praying.
Offering garlands and flowers,
While deyas are glowing.
Sweets are shared,
Like kurma and barfi.
This sure makes everybody
Quite cheerful and happy.
So if you’re looking for me,
Look to your side,
And you’ll find me there,
On Divali night.
