Gasparillo man in court for law clerk murder

A-38-YEAR-OLD man appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Thursday charged with the August 19, 2019 murder of a law clerk at a bar in Gasparillo.

Kevin Dion Elijah Lewis, of Diamond Village, Claxton Bay, appeared before senior magistrate Jo-Anne Connor on two other criminal charges relating to a robbery at Michelle’s Bar, Happy Hill, Gasparillo.

Sirjusingh, of Happy Hill, was shot and killed in the bar where he went to celebrate his father’s birthday. He worked with a law firm in Chaguanas.

In addition to the murder charge which was laid by Cpl Marlon Smith of the Homicide Division (Region 111), Connor read a charge to Lewis that he robbed Parker Rishi Ramcharitar of $165, a wallet, ID card and a cell phone. Another charge alleged that Lewis shot and wounded Yogellista Lastra with intent to do her grievous bodily harm.

The charges were laid indictably and as a result, Lewis was not called upon to plead. He was remanded to reappear on Tuesday March 31.
