Tobago’s Oceanus crowned top premier team

The 4th edition of the Pan American Club Crew Championships came to an exciting end, on Sunday, with the finals of the premier open 200 metres major final.
Tobago’s Oceanus were among the four teams contesting for the gold medal, at the Pigeon Point Heritage Park, however, in a time of 58:63 seconds Friendship Dragon Boat Club of Panama were the first to cross the line in a nail-biting finish.
The Jumo Daniel led Oceanus took silver in a time of 58: 92 seconds and in the process eclipsed their best time in the 200m event dipping under one minute. Oceanus were the most successful premier team at the event grabbing three gold medals, four silver and one bronze over the course of three days.
Trinidad-based Aquaholics Dragon Boat Club team copped the third spot in 59.05 seconds.
Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles was on hand to assist with the medal distribution. In addressing those gathered, Charles said Tobago was extremely happy to have been given the opportunity to host such an event, as he extended an invitation for the organisers to host the games here again.
Charles added that he had spoken with some visitors, who indicated that they will be extending their stay: “you can never have a more exciting vacation than in Tobago”.
For the first time, Tobago was the host of the Pan American Club Crew Dragon Boat Championship, held at the Pigeon Point Heritage Park, from Friday to Sunday
The Pan American Club Crew Dragon Boat Championship welcomed teams from across the Pan American region such as; Canada, USA, Panama, Puerto Rico, and TT.
The next edition of the Pan American Club Crew Championships will be held in Panama in 2021.
