OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has called UNC MPs, senators and executive to a meeting tomorrow as the party prepared for local government, due this year, and general elections in 2020.

In a statement yesterday, the former prime minister said as she sets the year's agenda, she would meet each MP and senator before convening the parliamentary caucus.

Persad Bissessar said, “I am aware that this team contains a wide range of experience, skills and competencies which may be generally known and unknown. There is definite need for all of these skills in this campaign. As our front line representatives, your contribution is critical to ensuring victory in these elections.”

She said TT has "suffered greatly" under Dr Keith Rowley administration. “Our economy has collapsed and we have seen mass retrenchment and there is a pervasive sense of hopelessness,” she stated. An incoming administration, she said, would face a mammoth task to "correct the damage done by this Government."

Tomorrow's meeting is the first in a series of strategic meetings as the UNC campaigns to bring good governance to the country. The statement said the party continued to build membership and Persad-Bissessar made another call to all interested in national development to come forward and be part of the change.

Persad-Bissessar in a Newsday article yesterday said she would be deterred by a bogus list of candidates circulated via email under the name of a party member who denied he had sent any email, and said someone had used his profile.
