Garcia: Help the less fortunate

Education Minister Anthony Garcia has encouraged students to help the less fortunate during the Christmas holidays.

In a release from the ministry yesterday, Garcia urged students to maximise their downtime and to give to others.

“Keep active, play, enjoy friends and family and in whatever way possible, try to be of service. Children can never start too early learning the importance of benevolence, and it is hoped that during this time and all through the year parents take the time to teach students the importance of giving and helping those who may be less fortunate in any small way,” the release stated.

The ministry thanked all stakeholders in education who contributed to making 2017 a success.

“Each of you, from parents, teachers, principals, caterers, bus drivers, interest groups, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Dr Lovell Francis, technocrats and the like, have all in no small way contributed to the educational development of our nation’s youth and for that we say thank you.”
