Tearful farewell for victim in Carenage murder/suicide
Murder victim Samantha Stacey “Sammy” Isaacs was a beautiful, loving, ambitious “superwoman” whose memory will live on in her three year-old son Kaiden.
Her funeral was held yesterday at Jesus is the Answer church, Diego Martin.
On Saturday Isaacs, 26, was abducted and shot in Carenage by Kahriym Garcia, 31, her ex-boyfriend and father of her son. She died after being taken to hospital and Garcia shot and killed himself when confronted by police hours after.
Eulogising his sister yesterday, Andreas said Isaacs loved people, was respectful, very polite, always smiled and was focused on her goals.
“More than a daughter, a sister, a friend, (she was) a superwoman.”
He said she raised her son Kaiden with manners and taught him how to count and say his ABCs. He said his nephew could even use a cellphone.
He recalled his sister asked Kaiden what he wanted for Christmas and he said a fish and a turtle, and she replied he would get a bike. He said, under the circumstances Kaiden could receive everything he wanted for Christmas.
“Samantha’s memory will live on through her son Kaiden.”
Rev Dr Dale Des Vignes expressed condolences to the family. He told the young people present the choice they make will determine their destiny and, because life is short, it is important to make the right choices in every aspect of their lives including in their career and companionship.
“Change the company you keep if it is not helping you but hurting you.
“We have to be able to change the way we respond to one another if we want to see a better community, a better society and country.”
He said we live in a time where there is so much disrespect for life and for property. Des Vignes said what is lacking today in this country is spirituality. He also said citizens have lost their respect for God and use God like an ATM when sick or broke.
“He is able to change this country. This country needs to return to spirituality.”
Isaacs attended St Francois Girls’ College and some of her former classmates were dressed in tee shirts with her image and the phrase “Samantha Forever.” In their tribute they described her as one of the most beautiful people they knew, who smiled and laughed at everything, ambitious, loyal, never missed friends’ birthday limes, and was the perfect example of love as stated in the Bible.
“We are devastated by her passing.” A private cremation was held after the service.
