A TOTAL team effort by Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) led the franchise to an exciting two-wicket win over the Barbados Royals in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on September 13.

Royals posted 156 for eight in 20 overs and in response, TKR scored 159/8 in 19.5 overs.

It was TKR's third win out of four matches to start the tournament. It was the first loss for the Royals in their fourth match.

Needing 21 runs from the last ten balls, TKR were in a spot of bother with seven wickets down.

Akeal Hosein and Terrance Hinds kept TKR in the match hitting one four apiece in the 19th over to leave the equation 11 runs from six balls.

When Hosein was out for 20 off the fourth ball of the last over, TKR needed six runs from two balls. Fast bowler Jason Holder then gave TKR a reprieve by bowling a no ball.

Hinds and new batsman Jayden Seales ran a single off the no ball for the high full toss as TKR now required four from two balls.

With the fans on the edge of their seats, Hinds then slammed Holder for a straight six to give TKR the win and leave the majority of the fans disappointed.

Hinds ended on 14 not out of five deliveries.

Earlier in the innings, Nicholas Pooran (35), Shaqkere Parris (35) and Keacy Carty (32) all made contributions to help lay the platform in TKR's run chase.

Batting first, Royals captain Rovman Powell struck 59 not out off 38 balls to steer his team past 150.

The spinners led the way for TKR as Waqar Salamkheil (3/13), Sunil Narine (2/16) and Hosein were the chief destroyers. Hosein's 20 runs off ten balls and 2/29 in four overs earned him the man of the match award.

TKR will now travel to Trinidad for their home leg of the tournament. The TT franchise will play Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 18 at the Queen's Park Oval at 7 pm.
