A JOINT exercise between regular and municipal police led to the arrest of three men on July 25 for stealing a car in the Southern District the day before.

The suspects are from Sixth Company Village and Indian Walk in Moruga. Once charged, they will face a Princes Town magistrate.

The police said the owner of a white Tiida car from George Village in Tableland parked and locked her car in an open garage next to her home around 6.30 pm on July 23.

Around 8 am on July 24, she realised it was not there, and reported it stolen to Tableland police.

The car, which has a dent on the front bumper, was spotted in the Princes Town district with three male occupants and a fake numberplate.

An all-points bulletin was sent out, and acting Cpl Ali and PC Rebeiro of the Princes Town municipal police station intercepted the car.

Regular police from Area East in the Southern Division, including W/Sgt Chance and other police from Ste Madeliene police station and Princes Town police, Southern Division Task Force, and traffic wardens who were part of a traffic exercise, also responded.

The police found the real number plate inside the car.

The suspects were arrested and taken to the Princes Town police station.

Tableland police are investigating.
