The police found 13 spent shells near the body of a 35-year-old man who was killed on the spot in a drive-by shooting in Fyzabad midmorning on July 24.

Labourer Prince Ralph Maingot, 35, also called Pman, of Delhi Road, died on the spot at the front of his home around 11.15 am.

The father of one also worked as a shopkeeper at a house next door.

Reports are a Nissan B14 car pulled up at the front of Maingot’s home, and then gunshots were heard.

The car was then seen driving out of the street and Maingot was found lying motionless with head wounds in the yard near the pavement.

The first responders were PC Thomas and WPC Forrester of the Emergency Response Patrol, who alerted other police in the South Western Division, including Insp Mungroo.

Sgt Elvin and other officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, also visited.

The scene was cordoned off as bereaved relatives and curious onlookers tried to get a glimpse of the body. Relatives were too distraught to speak to media personnel.

In October 2018, Maingot survived a shooting.

Maingot was charged with drug-related offences, and investigators suspect the motive to be drug-related.

No one was arrested and investigations are ongoing.
