Trinidad and Tobago netballers stay winless in Fast5

Trinidad and Tobago were destroyed 64-2 by favourites Australia as Fast5 Netball continued on Wednesday at the Shaw Park indoor courts. It was Team TTO's third straight defeat in Group A, after going under 22-11 to Canada and 37-14 to Scotland on Tuesday's opening day.

The hosts were shut out 13-0 in the first quarter as Australia quickly asserted themselves. It was a dismal showing defensively from Team TTO in the second quarter, which they surrendered 23-2.

It was a total shut out in the second half with Australia scoring 28 unanswered.

The Aussies were perfect on Tuesday with a 29-8 victory over Scotland and 54-6 result over Canada.

TTO's winless streak continued with a 15-11 loss to Botswana in a 5th-8th playoff.

The hosts started brightly matching Botswana 5-5 in the first quarter, but a poor second quarter cost them. TTO struggled with their interior passing and were shut out 3-0. TTO bounced back in the third quarter with four goals while Botswana scored five more. TTO's shooting accuracy dipped in the final quarter as both teams scored just two each.

TTO will face St Vincent and the Grenadines at 2.15pm on Thursday in a 7th/8th playoff.

South Africa are also looking impressive with victories over England (40-3) and Botswana (58-3) on Tuesday, followed by a 72-8 mauling of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Canada in beach volleyball finals

In beach volleyball action, Canadians Oliver Toomes and Andon Kiriakou will meet England's Peter Soczewka and Rob Morgan in the gold medal match at 4pm on Thursday.

The Canadian pair won a close semifinal versus Cyprus' Alexis Savvidis and Alexios Chrysosotomou 23-21, 21-16 on Wednesday at the Courland Beach Sports Arena, Black Rock.

The other semifinal saw the English pair get past New Zealand's Calum Stewart and Juraj Krajci 21-17, 21-19.

Canada is also represented in the women's final, after Calinda Kok and Katarina Drozd comfortably won their semifinal against Kenya's Sharon Jepkogei and Abigael Chesebe 21-9, 21-15.

In the other semifinal, an all-Australian affair, Jasmine Rayner and Cameron Zajer prevailed over Tineke Hinton and Kiana Stevenson 22-20, 22-20. The final serves off at 3pm on Thursday.
