Wrightson Road partially closed this weekend
THE Ministry of Works and Transport said there will be temporary traffic disruption along Wrightson Road, between Edward Street and Sackville Street, from Friday at 9 pm to Monday at 4 am.
This will be done to facilitate the installation of the pedestrian overpass.
The specific section of Wrightson Road will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic but exemptions will be made to emergency transportation, trailer trucks and wide turning trucks only – except on Saturday between 5 am and 9 am.
Alternative routes recommended by the ministry include the Barataria overpass and Lady Young Road.
People heading west may also use the NP overpass along the Beetham Highway through Independence Square. Drivers heading east may use the Maraval Parkway or Sackville Street through Independence Square and onto the NP overpass or any other alternative routes to avoid the diversion near the work zone.
People are advised to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers, drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone, comply with instructions from the police on site to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic and to be aware of heavy equipment entering and leaving the site.
