Lewis, Jangoo push Cavaliers past Leatherback Giants

SHAARON Lewis and Amir Jangoo delivered with ball and bat respectively to guide Tiger Tanks Cocrico Cavaliers to a 37-run win over Valini’s Supermart Leatherback Giants in the TT Cricket Board (TTCB) Dream XI T10 Trinidad Blast at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, on Friday.

In the second match of the day, Cavaliers posted 126/3 in ten overs behind 60 not out from Jangoo.

Jangoo slammed two fours and five sixes in his 31-ball innings. Jesse Bootan also helped Cavaliers to the formidable total with 25 off 18 deliveries and Denesh Ramdin chipped in with 24 off 10 balls.

Keon Isaac took 1/21 in two overs for Leatherback Giants.

Lewis was unplayable as he only conceded one run in his two overs. He also grabbed two wickets to help limit Leatherback Giants to 89/6 in their ten overs.

Ramesh Brijlal was also among the wickets with 3/23 in two overs.

Leatherback Giants captain Terrance Hinds made 29 from 13 balls and Yannic Cariah hit 16 off 11 deliveries, but it was not enough.

In the first match on Friday, Scorpion Titans Blue Devils defeated Fine Choice Steelpan Strikers by three runs.

Blue Devils posted 85/5 as Vikash Mohan led the way with 38 and Mario Belcon ended unbeaten on 19.

Shazan Babwah was the best bowler for Strikers grabbing 2/7 in two overs.

In response, Strikers made a valiant attempt to get to the target but fell agonizingly short.

Adrian Ali hit 23 and Qwinci Babel struck 20 as Strikers ended on 82/7 in ten overs.

Damion Joachim helped limit the Strikers batsmen with 3/20 in two overs. West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel picked up 2/14 in his two overs and Christopher Vincent also ended with two wickets, taking 2/18 in two overs.

Matches will be played at noon and 2.30 pm daily until June 24.
