West Indies seal ODI series against Sri Lanka
WEST Indies sealed the three-match One Day International series against Sri Lanka with a five-wicket win in the second match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua, on Friday.
Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 273/8 in 50 overs with Danushka Gunathilaka cracking 96 off 96 balls. His knock included ten fours and three sixes. Dinesh Chandimal scored 71 off 98 and Wanindu Hasaranga pitched in with a valuable 47 off 31 to boost the total.
Off spinner Jason Mohammed grabbed 3/47 in ten overs and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph took 2/42 in his ten-over spell.
In response, Evin Lewis and Shai Hope put on an opening partnership of 192 inside 38 overs. Lewis, who was the first to be dismissed, scored 103 off 121 deliveries with eight fours and four sixes. Hope fell shortly after for 84 off 108 balls, a knock which included six fours.
The required run rate climbed as West Indies lost a few quick wickets. Needing nine off the last over, Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder completed the job. Pooran ended on 35 not out as West Indies closed on 274/5 in 49.4 overs.
