Couva Carnival C’ttee member dies

SOCIAL worker and executive member of the Couva Carnival Committee, Marsha Maraj, 37, died at Mt Hope Hospital on Monday.

She was the daughter of councillor Ramchand Rajbal Maraj, who is also the president of Couva Chamber of Commerce.

Maraj, a clerk at the Couva/Talparo Regional Corporation, was hospitalised on April 7 with pains in her head. MP for Couva South Rudranath Indarsingh said she was admitted to the intensive care unit and had surgery, but did not recover.

Indarsingh expressed his condolences to the Maraj family, saying he had two daughters himself and ould not imagine what it felt like to lose a child. He said Marsha brought joy and happiness to the corporation, as she was always willing to help others.

“We have a lost a valuable worker and dedicated social worker in Couva,” Indarsingh said. Always with a magnificent smile and cheerful demeanour, he said, Maraj showed her friends how important it is to be kind and live to the fullest.”
