Community Development, Culture and the Arts Minister Nyan Gadsby-Dolly says the Government has allocated just about $142 million for this year’s Carnival.

Speaking with Newsday today after the launch of the rebranding of the Central Bank Museum, Central Bank, Port of Spain, Gadsby-Dolly said planning for 2019 Carnival started in 2018 and the planning was in effect.

She said the ministry was seeing the implementation and TT was expected to have an enjoyable Carnival this year.

“We do have a new NCC chairman. He has been at the forefront going out there, speaking about some of the changes that will be made for this Carnival. So, for example, one of the more current changes that you will see now partnering with Soca Monarch franchise holders to put on the Soca Monarch.

“There is a new person involved, Peter Scoon is no longer there. We have Fay Ann Lyons in the seat planning this. So that is one of the changes.”
