Cops seize weapon, ammunition, drugs in San Fernando

A police exercise in San Fernando on August 2 and 3 has resulted in the seizure of a firearm, ammunition and various narcotics.

In a statement issued on August 3, police said based on previous surveillance and credible information, the officers went to Roy Joseph Street, San Fernando and conducted a search.

During the search, the officers found a black bag containing 1.8 kilogrammes of high-grade marijuana, two cell phones, 29 grams of cocaine in several packets, ten capsules resembling molly pills and five green colored tablets resembling ecstasy.

All of the items were seized.

Acting on further information, police went to Union Hall, San Fernando.

They found a silver vehicle which had been reported stolen on July 28.

The vehicle was transported to the San Fernando Police Station.

Investigations are ongoing.

Around 11.45 pm on August 2, police conducted a search at San Fernando Wharf.

They found and seized a silver and brown .38 special revolver firearm and one round of .38 ammunition there.

The exercise was conducted by Snr Supt Soodeen, Supt Singh, ASP Phillip, ASP Ramsaran, and Insp Lewis, and Supervised by Sgt Alexander, Sgt Ramnarine, Sgt Singh and Ag. Cpl Huggins.
