LEAH Bertrand will be Trinidad and Tobago's only representative in the women's 100-metre semifinals, as Michelle-Lee Ahye did not get past the heats at the 2024 Paris Olympics on August 2.

Ahye, 32, was fourth in heat two in 11.33 seconds and missed out on one of the three automatic qualification spots in the race.

Winning heat two was St Lucian Julien Alfred in 10.95. Zoe Hobbs of New Zealand ran a season's best to finish second in 11.08 and Italian Zaynab Dosso was just ahead of Ahye in 11.30 to grab the last automatic spot in the semifinals.

Other than the top three in each of the eight heats, the next three fastest runners also progressed to the semifinals.

In heat six, Olympic debutant Bertrand progressed after finishing third in 11.27. American Twanisha Terry won the heat in 11.15 and Jamaican Shashalee Forbes ended second in 11.19.

Some of the other athletes advancing to the next round were American Sha'carri Richardson (10.94), Great Britain's Daryll Neita (10.92), Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith of Ivory Coast (10.87) and Jamaican legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (10.92).

The semifinals will take place on August 3 at 1.50 pm, TT time. The final will be run later that day at 3.20 pm.
