Brian Harricharan, Gabriel Mansoor seal early Summer Bowl Tennis wins
Trinidad and Tobago’s Brian Harricharan and Gabriel Mansoor were the only local players to notch wins against Bajan opposition on day one of the Under-14 Summer Bowl Tennis Tournament which served off at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua on Saturday.
Against Barabdos’ Zach King, Harricharan won the opening set 4-2, lost the second 2-4 and was victorious in the third 4-1 to seal an early first round advantage.
Additionally, Mansoor bettered 11th seed Bajan Travis Licorish 4-2, 5-3 in his opening contest.
In other boys’ matches, TT’s Jacob Jacelon defeated countryman Jaiden Gormandy 4-0, 4-0; Nirav Dougdeen beat Jack Brown 4-0, 4-1; Darius Rahaman topped Christopher Khan 4-1, 5-3 and Rodello Boodhai won 4-2, 5-4(5) against Gormandy.
The Bajan boys showed good form as well as third seed Dimitri Kirton bettered TT’s Boodhai 4-0, 4-0 and Jacelon 4-2, 4-0, Ethan Warner trumped Novak Malcolm 5-3, 4-1 and Zane Kirton eased past Justin Horsford 4-1, 4-1.
In the girls matches, fifth seed Naomi Mohammed topped Suri Ramcharan 4-2, 4-2 and Taegan Yeates defeated Anya Romany 4-2, 4-0.
Matches continue on Sunday.
