A Maloney man was hospitalised after a gunman on a bicycle shot him on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said Kerry Adams, 42, a fish vendor, was at his fish stall near a yard with a group of men at the Corner of Jacana Avenue and Maloney Boulevard, when a man dressed in dark clothing rode past them on a bicycle.

The man on the bicycle then made a U-turn, got off the bicycle and fired several shots at the group of men.

Adams attempted to escape by running west, across Maloney Boulevard but was shot twice on the right side of his chest.

He was rushed to the Arima Health Facility where he was stabilised and taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for surgery and further medical treatment.
