Keith Ward shows his art in Rise
Artist Keith Ward is hosting his 23rd solo art exhibition, Rise, at the Lloyd Best Institute, 91 Tunapuna Road, Tunapuna, until June 12.
Rise is an acronym for resilience, innovation, strengths and efforts and will feature 35 paintings on show.
A media release said Ward is a prolific artist who moves comfortably between mediums and subject matter. "His artwork is distinct and radiates with vibrancy and strong animated line quality. His Caribbean themes frequently address elements of movement and light; whilst projecting a celebration of life and positivity of the human spirit," the release said.
Ward sees his art as a unique forum for self-expression, as a useful vehicle for personal growth and as a means to communicate on a deeper level of consciousness to others, the release said.
He began his art career as a self-taught artist from early childhood. Over the years he has also explored other creative pursuits such as drama, calypso writing and singing, filmmaking, set design and poetry. He has written two books of poems, Reflections and Moments of Indecision.
Ward holds a degree in visual arts from the University of the West Indies. He teaches art and design, and drawing and painting at the UWI Open Campus. He founded, Arts for Development, Expression and Therapy, through which he conducts art therapy, team-building and creativity workshops.
Ward has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions and his artwork is in many private and corporate collections throughout TT; as well as Europe, North America and Africa.
Rise can be viewed from 10 am to 6pm.
