Royal Bank's (RBC) San Juan branch will close from May 28.

In a statement the bank said, “We look forward in welcoming our San Juan clients to our Independence Square branch, where we will continue to meet your more complex banking needs and support your financial goals.”

It told customers its ATM services will continue 24/7 at the San Juan location.

This will be the 13th branch the bank has closed since 2013. Some remaining outlets have been temporarily closed or their operations restricted owing to the covid19 virus.

Earlier this month RBC sold its Eastern Caribbean banking operations to a consortium of regional banks comprising 1st National Bank of St Lucia, Antigua Commercial Bank, Bank of Dominica, Bank of Montserrat, and the Bank of Nevis.

Attempts to reach officials at the bank to ask about staff and the reasons behind the latest closure were unsuccessful up until Thursday evening.
