Khan gave his life to party and country
THE EDITOR: Franklin Khan has died. Our national flag should be draped on the casket of the hardest working Energy Minister this country has ever known. Khan gave his life to country and party right up to his last breath. He was unstintingly working for the good of all citizens.
There can be no talk of his bearing anyone ill will. He served well at his many ministerial portfolios throughout his career, but the energy sector was his favourite “political baby.”
Khan was said to be gravely ill with heart problems since 2016. There is never time to recover from a serious heart complaint unless one ceases working. His selfless loyalty to party and country is to be forever admired.
His intentions were always to do well for all citizens. No one can point to Khan making deliberate divisive statements.
The PNM has lost not just a highly qualified, experienced minister of energy, it has lost a man who put loyalty to country first and who embodied the words of our national anthem that declares that every creed and race be treated equally.
Condolences go out to his wife and children at their loss of a husband and father gone too soon.
The children of the balisier will weep at the selflessness of his sacrifice.
May his soul rest in peace.
