THE Elections and Boundaries Commission's head office will be closed on Friday for sanitisation after a staff member tested positive for covid19 on Thursday.

In a release on Thursday afternoon, the commission said all primary contacts within the office will be tested. It will also work with the Ministry of Health to begin contact tracing.

While this is being done its call centre, administrative offices, Port of Spain/Laventille registration area office and Diego Martin registration area offices, all at Scott House Frederick Street, Port of Spain, will be closed.

Its Port of Spain/Laventille registration area department, which serves areas such as Woodbrook, St James, Port of Spain, Belmont, Gonzales, Morvant, Laventille, St Ann’s, Cascade, Newtown and several other areas, will remain closed until April 16.

Members of the public with appointments to renew expired national ID cards on Friday at the Diego Martin and Port of Spain/ Laventille registration offices will be contacted to have these appointments rescheduled.
