Claxton Bay handyman killed in road accident

A Claxton Bay handyman died after a car struck him on the Solomon Hochoy Highway on Tuesday evening.

Police identified the victim as Rajin Mohammed, 54, of Macaulay Road.

Police said he was crossing the northbound lane near the Forres Park flyover shortly before 7 pm when a car hit him.

He died at the scene and his body was taken to the mortuary of the San Fernando General Hospital.

Newsday visited the area on Wednesday. Residents said Mohammed lived in an isolated area off Macaulay Road. They knew him only as "Rajin" and described him as a nice man who did odd jobs in the area.
