'Mama' charged with manslaughter

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman was expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate virtually on Monday charged with manslaughter.

A police press release stated that Nanyamka "Mama" Worrell was charged on Friday on the advice of Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC.

Police said that on December 13, at Hope Street in Tarodale, Ste Madeleine, Stephon Ramnarine, 26, was liming with friends not too far from his Hill Crest Extension home.

The release said that 4 pm and 5 pm, an argument broke out and Ramnarine was stabbed on his left shoulder with a knife by a woman whom he knew.

EHS personnel was contacted and Ramnarine was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5.55 pm. The body was then taken to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
