TWO Penal men are in  custody after they were arrested by Barrackpore police for stealing goats.

They were held during an anti-crime exercise in Penal on Monday.

Police said the owner reported that she tied her two goats to graze in an open area near her home at 10am on Monday. She left and returned at 3.45 pm and discovered her goats, valued $6,000, missing.

Police investigated and arrested a 28-year-old man of Bajnath Trace, Penal, and a 19-year-old of Penal Rock Road.

Based on information received after the arrests, the officers went to Platanite Spring Trace, Rochard Road, where the goats were found and identified by the owner.

The men are expected to be charged later this week.
