Brian Manning ready to serve in San Fernando East

BRIAN Manning says he is ready to serve, having been selected by the People’s National Movement (PNM) as the next candidate to contest the San Fernando East constituency in the upcoming general election.

Manning, son of the late Prime Minister Patrick Manning and his wife former Education Minister Hazel Manning, replaces the incumbent Randall Mitchell, who has served one term.

Manning was screened last Saturday and his selection was announced on the PNM’s San Fernando East Facebook page by constituency chairman Patricia Alexis.

In the brief statement Alexis said the executive was looking forward to working with him as he charts his way forward.

She also thanked Mitchell, the outgoing MP, for his service to San Fernando East for the past five years.

“We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

“As we approach another general election, we are bound by our common goal of working for the people on the pillars of strength, integrity and patriotism. The San Fernando East Constituency stands with our political leader Dr Keith Rowley as he continues to lead this great party with sound decisions and a clear vision for this nation.”

Manning, in an immediate response, said he is humbled and inspired to have been selected for the constituency.

“The people of San Fernando East, regardless of political affiliation, mean the world to me. You have been my extended family and played a significant role in shaping who I am. I am committed to serving you, working with you and representing you.”

He expressed gratitude to the chairman and the constituency executive for their strength and support and said he was looking forward to working with all of them towards the common goal of improving the quality of life for all.

“To say these are challenging times is an understatement, and I therefore commit to working with all stakeholders as we navigate the uncertainty ahead. I am confident we can overcome anything with wisdom, creativity and resilience.

Manning has a BA in economics and a BSC in information systems management from the University of Maryland. He also hass an MSC in finance and asset management, also from the University of Maryland, and an MBA in international business and marketing from the University of Miami.
