PNM women welcome new THA Chief Secretary
THE National Women’s League of the People’s National Movement (PNM) has congratulated the new Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
Assemblyman Ancil Dennis was sworn in as Chief Secretary on Wednesday, after the resignation of his predecessor Kelvin Charles.
Charles resigned at the end of April, after losing the PNM Tobago Council leadership to Tracy Davidson-Celestine during the election earlier this year.
Charles was not present at the swearing-in ceremony when Dennis, the representative for Buccoo/Mt Pleasant, took his oath of office, making history as the youngest person to do so. Dennis is 33.
The league, in a statement, noted that Dennis’s commitment and leadership and electoral representation will serve him in good stead as he embarks on a new stage of service.
“As the world is in the midst of a new normal in order to alleviate global health challenges the NWL wishes the Chief Secretary every success and professional fulfilment in his new role as he navigates the new terrain.
“It is common knowledge that the PNM led Government has a strong mandate to serve the people and it is confident that Chief Secretary Dennis’s known commitment for excellence will be brought to bear in ensuring that the work of the THA continues unabated."
The league said it remains committed to continuing its support to the THA and its representatives.
