Bikers’ show funeral service for Rondel Jagessar

MOTORCYCLIST Rondel Jagessar, 20, was given a motor-bike salute at his funeral yesterday. Held at the Jesus Loves You Ministries in Claxton Bay, scores of bikers followed the hearse which carried the cyclist’s coffin.

Popular motorcyclist Jagessar of Bel Air Drive in La Romaine, died in an accident last Friday while riding along the SS Erin Road, Debe.

Pastor Valarie Ramkalawan told the congregation that while many people are judging the younger ones who are riding bikes, they must realise that young Rondel had a purpose and touched many lives as evidenced by the large turnout at the funeral.

He called on mourners not to judge young people. “I am here to raise our young people up, because I know many of them are messed up. People tell them all sorts of things. About the way they dress and the way they behave, but we need to accept them the way they are,” Ramkalawan said. “If Rondel knew he was going to die he would have done a lot more and this is why I say to you to make sure your time on earth is well spent,” she advised. Sometimes, she said, people are too attached to earthly things but one day the call to return to the maker will come and everyone will have to go.

Ramkalawan praised Rondel’s father Rondal and mother Shannon for being regular churchgoers and said she feels their pain. Rondel’s death, she said, is yet another wakeup call for everyone to do right before being called home. Jagessar was later cremated at Mosquito Creek in La Romaine.
