Arima man held with $17,000 in marijuana

ONE MAN was arrested and a quantity of marijuana seized by police from the Pinto Police Post.
Police said the man was held during an anti-crime exercise in the Pinto district around 10.30 pm on Thursday.
Police stopped and searched a red Nissan Latio at Train Line Road, Arima. The search yielded three plastic packets containing 1.7 kilogrammes of marijuana and a quantity of cash in a shoebox. The driver, and sole occupant of the car was a 34-year-old labourer of Palm Court Drive, Arima,who was arrested.
The drug has an estimated street value of $17,000.
The exercise was co-ordinated by ACP McDonald Jacob, led by acting Supt Curtis Paul, and supervised by Sgt Michael Lewis. Investigations are ongoing.
