TWO men were freed of a murder charge when Chief Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle upheld no-case submissions by their lawyers.

Davis Charles, 31,of Assign Avenue, Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan and Jimall Gibbs, 29, of Thompson Lane, Lower Santa Cruz, were charged with the murder of Anthony Sammy, of Sammy Lane, Santa Cruz, who was killed on January 15, 2017.

Charles was represented by attorney Delicia Helwig while Gibbs was represented by attorney Brent Winter. The two lawyers challenged the reliability of the prosecution’s evidence in their no-case submissions which were upheld by Earle-Caddle.

After the magistrate’s ruling, the two men were discharged.

Sammy was killed at about 3 pm, when three gunmen stormed his home.

The men shot at the 38-year-old as he attempted to flee the attackers. However, Sammy was hit several times about the body and died a short distance away on the roadway.
