Don’t treat us so, PTSC

THE EDITOR: PTSC, where are your buses? Why aren’t they on time? Why must we wait so long? I waited for almost two hours on Monday for the UWI bus to arrive. At 6.30 pm the bus cruised into the compound and parked in front of the shuttle stop to pick up students.

Monday marked the first day of the second academic semester at UWI, yet the bus service couldn’t make a good first impression and be on time.

Many students including myself sat in the blazing hot sun patiently waiting for the bus. There were no 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm buses as per the regular schedule.

Like myself, many students who reside south of the Caroni River rely on the bus service as their primary means of transportation to and from campus. If this is the service on the first day of school, should students brace themselves for many more delays?

As the leaders of tomorrow, we should not be subjected to such unexplained delays. A good education is the key to opening many doorways today therefore more focus should be placed on the students who actively pursue their tertiary education and are ready to give back to society despite the odds we face.

Can the Minister of Works and Transport make the relevant arrangements so that public transportation, especially the UWI bus service, can become a more efficient and reliable one?
