Contractors' Association saddened by worker's murder
President of the TT Contractors' Association Glenn Mahabirsingh said he is shocked and saddened by the murder of construction worker Gregory Morales at his Trincity work site on Monday.
Morales, 48, was shot and killed by a man who walked onto the construction site at around 2.40 pm.
Speaking with Newsday on Tuesday, Mahabirsingh described the killing as unusual and unfortunate.
"The workers on site must be traumatised because it was a very unusual incident. People come to work to do an honest day's job, and to have something like this happen – which was totally unexpected is bad for anyone."
Asked if it was normal practice for construction sites to have security on site, Mahabirsingh said security was not always present at work sites owing to the layout of different sites.
