AGRICULTURE Minister Clarence Rambharat has denied a claim that a NAMDEVCO employee was quarantined after being tested for covid19.

The claim was made in a Facebook post.

Rambharat said the fake social media post was malicious and was intended to create fear and panic.

“To my knowledge, and that of the permanent secretary (of the ministry), none of our employees was quarantined and no one was tested for covid 19.”

He said no ministry employee, or those of the agencies under the ministry, was involved in any of the reported cases.

Up to Sunday, there were only two confirmed covid19 cases in TT.

"There is no connection to any reported cases,” Rambharat said.

Rambharat assured that the ministry and its agencies have taken steps to mitigate risk to employees and the public.

"We continue to monitor what is taking place globally and what is happening in our country,” he said.

The Agriculture Ministry, he said, has initiated several protocol measures to protect employees. The ministry is also partnering with Sanitec Ltd, which provides decontamination, sterilsationa and disposal services as part of its covid 19 plan.
