Why tax pleasure to fail

THE EDITOR: Recently there has been lots of talk about paying taxes. These comments come from all manner of people and generally I agree, except that as a whole anybody who cannot pay or who can evade will continue to do so and the reason for this is simple.

If, for example, you were taught as a child that “honesty is the best policy” and don’t steal or lie etc, you will live your live following those rules. But if on the other hand the reverse is what you learnt, then you know the result.

Our leaders (parents) have taught us that corruption, nepotism and general thievery are par for the course and the population (children) will follow suit. So trying to make the people honest by calling on them to be honest and pay their taxes is doomed to failure.
