This country’s first Banking Services Ombudsman (BSO) Judy Chang passed away on March 8.

Chang began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) before taking early retirement in 1997. Starting in 1989, she began serving on various boards in TT’s financial sector.

Making reference to the fact that March 8 was International Women’s Day, PLOTT said, “As we celebrated today, the sun also set on this solid and powerful lady of TT.”

“Judy Chang passed away this evening. Judy was a former partner PWC, Chair Of UTC, former Director of DIC, Central Bank and numerous other boards. Recipient of National Chaconia Medal for Business. May she Rest In Peace.”

Trade Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon described as “noteworthy”, Chang’s “stellar service and contribution” to the development of TT’s financial services and business sector.

PWC too reflected on the contributions of “a cherished member” its family, telling Newsday that having joined in 1971 in Toronto, Canada, Chang “was a committed mentor to many of the PWC staff during her tenure.”

“She was also an outstanding citizen and contributor to the economic development of the country in numerous integral roles...As we celebrate her life, her contribution to the firm and the wider business community cannot be understated and she will indeed be missed,” PWC said.
