Another murder in Belmont as man, 31, gunned down

Another murder has been committed in the Belmont community.
On Wednesday November 20, a 31-year-old man was gunned down while watching as his car was being repaired at a garage in Gonzales.
Police said around 2.50 pm, a report was made after gunshots were heard in Gloster Lodge Road. When officers arrived they saw a man lying on the ground in front of a black Nissan Almera car. He had been shot multiple times.
He was later identified as Christopher Timothy of Mentor Alley, Laventille. Police found two spent 9 mm shell casings at the scene.
Police said they had no motive for the killing and are not ruling out different possibilities including that it may have been gang-related. The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre, St James for autopsy.
Belmont's residents have had to deal with a wave of murders in recent times.
On November 14, 24-year-old Tyreke Birch was killed while attending the wake for three men – Josiah John, 21, Kadeem Andrews, 22, and 28-year-old Algernon Ryan – who themselves were killed on November 12, in Belmont.
Kwesi Wadada, 42, son of Zakiya Uzoma-Wadada, chairman of the Emancipation Support Committee, was gunned down while driving on October 23.
On October 13, 19-year-old Shundell Barrow was shot 20 times just after midnight near his father’s home in Gonzales.
In June, four men were killed in two separate shootings, minutes apart. Gunmen shot a crowd of people after a football match in Gonzales, Belmont on June 2. One man died at the scene.
The injured men were taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital. However, the same gunmen also arrived at the hospital and began shooting again. In total, four men were killed including who was shot dead in the hospital.
The victims were identified as Jayden Reyes, 21, Peter Williams, 31, Kevin "Grimes" King, 33, and Johnathon "Johnny/Jman" Arjoon, 23.
