Garcia siblings kart away with titles
SIBLINGS Naomi and Axl Garcia were among the star racers at the sixth event of the TT Karting Association Championships at the Wallerfield International Raceway on September 14.
In karting, participants must complete multiple laps of a short course.
Naomi, 14, was too skilful around the corners for her male competitors, finishing first in the rotax senior max category. The faster drivers compete in the rotax, going around the bends in quick time. Naomi ended with 55 points to win the rotax senior max category, ahead of Adam Mustapha (38 points) and Christian Gajadhar (33).
Axl, the younger brother of Naomi, competed in the rotax mini max including younger children compared to the rotax senior division. Axl ended with 65 points, Reinaldo Naipaul was second with 46 points and Marc Chong-Ashing third with 37.
The cadet category are the beginners in the sport, sportsman division comprises mostly teenagers and the masters category are adult drivers.
Jonathan Charan was victorious in the cadet category, Matias Morton-Gittens claimed the sportsman class and Brandon Singh the masters division.
