Trinidad and Tobago’s boys and girls teams earned silver in their respective divisions on the final day of this year’s Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) Under-19 Championships which concluded at GC Foster College in Spanish Town, Jamaica, on August 3.

The boys gave up a two set advantage in the trophy match and allowed Barbados to come from behind and snatch a 3-2 victory.

TT won the first two sets 20-25, 24-26 but lost the next two 25-21, 25-22 to see the Bajans draw level. In the fifth and decisive set, TT could not hold on as Barbados clawed back for a deserving 15-12 victory, and the regional U19 boys’ title.

In their respective semi-final ties, TT defeated US Virgin Islands in straight sets 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) while Barbados also swept Jamaica 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-13).

In the girls’ final, Jamaica bettered TT 3-1 to take top honours. Jamaica won the first two sets 25-21, 25-23, but TT pulled one back in the third with a 24-26 win. The hosts seemed undeterred and rallied back to win the fourth set 25-14 to cop the crown.
