Ten-bout card for National Boxing Champs opening
NIGHT one of the National Boxing Championships punches off with ten bouts at the Southern Regional Indoor Sporting Arena in Pleasantville from 5pm on January 22.
Six novice, two youth and two elite contests make up the competitive card, with ten boxing gyms set to feature opening night.
The five-day championships feature bouts in all categories, from schoolboy to elite. After the tourney, the new national champions would be the number one pick for national team selection. Once chosen, they would have to join the national programme.
If the division winners are unable to join the programme, the silver medallists will serve as a backup option, as TT gears up for a developmental year of boxing.
