A Laventille mother was in mourning on July 29, as her two-year-old son is believed to have drowned in an inflatable pool on July 28.

A visibly distraught Darcell Wilson identified her son Kamarion Wilson's body at the Forensic Science Centre, St James on July 29.

She begged the media for some time to digest the incident, as up to Monday around noon, she had not given a statement to the police.

Police said the incident took place between 1 pm and 2.40 pm on July 28 at the home of his aunt Kizzie Paul, at Upper Erica Street, Rock City, Laventille.

Police were told the plastic pool was filled by a connected hose while Kamarion and other children were playing in it.

Paul was in the kitchen cooking, when one of the children told her her nephew
was not breathing.

She went to the pool and found him unresponsive.

The child was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 3.30 pm.
