Flash flooding in Tunapuna, Port of Spain, Arima

Areas along the East-West Corridor such as Tunapuna, Port of Spain and Arima were affected by flash flooding after torrential rainfall on July 25.

On Arima Old Road, the high, gushing floodwater made it difficult for vehicles to pass and caused traffic.

The Meteorological Office had warned the public gusty winds and street flooding might occur, near heavy showers and thunderstorms, and a significant concentration of Sahara dust was present on July 25.

The Met Office said the potential for "impactful" weather decreased considerably on Thursday.

But there was still a 40-60 per cent (medium) chance of isolated heavy showers or thunderstorm activity accompanied by occasional gusty winds during the day.

A gradual improvement was forecast towards late afternoon into the night.

Although the Met Office discontinued the adverse weather alert, there was still bad weather in several areas.
