YOUNGSTERS on their annual July/August vacation from school will, by popular demand, get an opportunity to participate in the second cricket camp organised by MP for Chaguanas West Dinesh Rambally.

The camp will run for seven consecutive Sundays, between 9 am and noon from July 16-August 20 at the Invaders Recreation Ground, Maha Sabha Street, Felicity, Chaguanas.

It is being conducted by Rambally in conjunction with the Central Sports Cricket Club, recently crowned champions of the TT Cricket Board T20 Festival.

The coaches in the camp, open for boys and girls between five and 17, will include outstanding Central Sports players Rayad Emrit and Imran Khan, captain of the team.

Also listed to impart his experience on the camp is former national captain Marlon Richards and coach Amin Forgenie, along with four women coaches in a 15-member team.

Among those adding star power to the camp will be senior cricketers Tion Webster, Kjorn Ottley and Mark Deyal among others.

President of Central Sports Richard Ramkissoon said the camp generated a lot of interest last year attracting close to 150 participants, and he expects that number to exceed 200 this year.

“We have notified all the zones affiliated to the TTCB to have their youngsters registered by calling the numbers on the camp’s poster or online,” said Ramkissoon.

He praised MP Rambally for taking the initiative once more to engage the young children and have them engage in a healthy and physical outdoor activity which has the potential to unearth future stars of the game.

“Our intention is to motivate the kids and we appreciate the interest shown by the parents in their children’s future. Our team of volunteers is already swamped with registering players and they also play a great part in making this year’s camp better organised than last year,” said Ramkissoon.

Registration can be made by calling 688-1041, 706-8882 or 683-6360.
