Police: Caroni Cepep worker murder gang-related

COMMUNITY-based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (Cepep) employee Arshad Baal, 34, was shot dead on Wednesday morning while working at Royal Tern Avenue, La Paille Village, Caroni.

Head of the Homicide Bureau Snr Superintendent Rishi Singh told Newsday police believe the murder was gang-related.

A report said just after 8 am, a white Nissan Wingroad drove near the work site and shot several times in Baal's direction.

Someone nearby took him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he later died of his injuries.

One other worker was injured in the shooting.
