Cancer Society holds Text-A-Thon to raise funds

The Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society (TTCS) in collaboration with Republic Bank is hosting its second instalment of its Text-A-Thon/Auction and Live concert on July 16.

The event was successful in 2021 and this year a live concert has been added to allow patrons to purchase a ticket at $100, and to enjoy performances by Marcia Miranda, Mical Teja, Omardath Maraj, Johann Chuckaree, Ian Small, Andre Comeau, Kevon Carter, Crazy Legs and Republic Bank Extraordinaires Tassa Drummers and other artistes, a media release said.

One of the other main features will be a live auction. During the performances, items will be auctioned throughout the event, including appliances, art, furniture, hotel stays, and much more. Bidding will also be open for online bids via texts and WhatsApp. Pre-bidding has started, so anyone wishing to bid on an item can follow the TTCS on social media and place a bid for the item of choice, the release said.

Those who cannot attend the concert or participate in the auction, can contribute to the society via the following:

- Deposit directly to the TTCS account, Republic Bank Ltd;

- Donate via its website using the WiPay feature (cancertt.com);

- Pledges for donations can also be made via text messages and e-mail (all pledges must be fulfilled or paid by no later than one week after event), the release said.
