Guns, ammo, drugs seized in overnight raids

Police arrested two people and seized marijuana, cocaine and ammunition in El Socorro on Thursday afternoon.

They said the exercise began at around 2 pm when members of the North Eastern Division CID went to a house in El Socorro. They searched it and found a quantity of cocaine.

A 54-year-old man who was in the house at the time was arrested.

Police then went to another house nearby, where they found a quantity of marijuana and arrested a 25-year-old woman. They also found 45 rounds of ammunition.

Hours later, at around 9 pm, acting on information, they went to First Caledonia, Morvant, where they found and seized a .38 special revolver.

No one was arrested.

Both exercises were co-ordinated by Snr Supt Maharaj and ASP Pariman, with field operations by Sgts Davidson, Mitchell, Cpls Dill and Gordon and PCs Wilson, Besdale and Dwarika.
