Siparia man ‘died twice’

Exactly a year ago on Monday, a group of customers at a Siparia bar knocked 31-year-old Kevon Dominique unconscious for more than seven hours.

At first his relatives relatives thought he was dead. In fact Dominique survived the beating.

But on November 12, someone shot and killed him in bed at the home of a female friend at SS Erin Road in Siparia.

His relatives are now calling on investigators to find the killers.

"We (relatives) considered him dead on December 7 last year. They beat him so bad that we thought we had lost him," said his sister Ayanna Dominique.

"But Kevon came back to life hours after the incident. When he regained consciousness, he did not remember what had happened at the bar. Police never arrested anyone for that."

The sister said the near-fatal brawl centred on a woman, from what she was told.

"This time, he really died, and we want police to find the killer," Ayanna said.

Dominique was the father of two.

Ayanna said since his death last month, there had been some "misinformation" about two women he had relationships with.

She denied some public comments by a female relative, saying they had caused the family additional pain because the reactions of the public were hurtful.

"Some of the things she said were not truthful," Ayanna said. "My brother did not do anything to deserve such a death.

"His children ask for him every day. They loved their daddy. He worked hard to care for them."

Dominique was buried at the Siparia cemetery a week after he was killed.
