A man robbed a woman of two gold chains as she waited for her take-out food order from a Chinese restaurant last Friday in South Oropouche.
Police arrested the suspect, a 25-year-old unemployed man, on Monday in the Port of Spain district. He was expected to be put on an ID parade on Thursday.
The suspect has two addresses, one at Point Fortin and the other at Sea Lots.
Reports are at about 1 pm last Friday, the 40-year-old customer was waiting to collect the order when a man walked up and announced a robbery. They began to fight, during which he overpowered and snatched two gold chains from her neck. He then ran off.
ASP Ramdeen, Insp Simon, Cpl Thompson, and PCs Hosein, Jaglal and other officers from the South Western Division investigated and arrested him.
The chains, which police said are worth about $10,000, were not recovered.
Once charged, the suspect will face a Siparia magistrate.
