Low success against sexual harassment by teachers
Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission Dr Fazal Ali said the commission has had just a two per cent success rate in resolving cases of sexual harassment by teachers against students since 2014 to the present.
Speaking at a Joint Select Committee inquiry into sexual harassment in the education sector with specific focus on students, Ali said in most cases it was the mother who asked for the matter to be dropped because of the trauma experienced by the child.
Member of the TSC Joanne Joseph Hannays said matters of sexual harassment brought against teachers were a lengthy process that took years.
