For 90s' rock lovers, a cover show full of grunge, alternative and punk is happening tomorrow at All Out Sports Bar and Gourmet Grill, Tragarete Road, Port of Spain.

Bangaseed, The Seven Year Itch, Hail the Hatter, Goodnight Parliament and SKID"NEVELY will perform throwbacks that they loved.

Stuart Gillezeau, Grunge organiser and drummer in Goodnight Parliament, described the concert as one like no other since it is the only rock show to play strictly 90s covers. Bands like Pearl Jam, Harvey Danger, Nine Days, Sound Garden, System of a Down, Nirvana and Incubus will all be covered at Grunge.

"We started in 2016. It was my idea. I wanted to do a tribute to the music that influenced us. It's for the nostalgia factor. You would know a lot of the songs the bands play because they would be on the radio," he said.

The first two Grunge shows were at Sky View Lounge, San Fernando, last November for Gillezeau's birthday. The first show was particularly memorable for him because he proposed to his wife.

In 2017 SKID"NEVELY was added to the line-up. Gillezeau said that band added more value because it played more punk music which brought a bigger variation.

This year, the bands decided to do the show in Port of Spain because they saw a desire from the rock following in the north. This move was encouraged by Paul Amar, from The Seven Year Itch and owner of Pablo's – a space that frequently held rock shows in the 2000s.

"We decided to do it in All Out to pull in the crowd in town. Nobody has done a full 90s show in Port of Spain," he said.

Gillezeau said for years the rock scene has been fragmented not just from the north/ south divide, but between those who like heavy metal music and those who liked grunge, alternative and punk.

Goodnight Parliament's Anthony Borde, bass, left; Shane De Silva, guitar; Stuart Gillzeau, drums; and Luke Edwards, vocals.

"We realised the crowds were dwindling, but the venue options kept on getting smaller, and the DJs played the heavy stuff. The girlfriends and wives were not fans of heavy metal. I don't want to listen to screaming music when we are liming. I told the DJs there will be no heavy metal," he said.

According to the Facebook event page, the DJs were also instructed not to play techno.

Bangaseed band members Johnathon Agostini, guitar; John Emmanuel, vocals; Kyle Samlalsingh, drums; and Anthony Borde, bass.

The show opens at 8 pm with Bangaseed who is doing a 20-minute set with music from Pantera, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Stone Temple Pilots and System of a Down.

The Seven Year Itch will play a full grunge set with music from Pearl Jam, Silver Chair, Incubus, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Stone Temple Pilot. Goodnight Parliament, is playing heavier music like Tool and Deftones

"We are going to play songs that weren't played on the radio. We don't want to play the same Billboard songs," he said.

Hail to the Hatter are doing Judas Priest, Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizkit. And SKID"NEVELY will play music from Live, Alanis Morissette, Presidents of the United States of America, Natalie Imbruglia, Marcy Playground, Harvey Danger, Nine Days and Eve 6.

The bands will not play their original music, but for those who are lovers of the bands' original songs, Gillezeau said the crowd could, "try a thing and call out a song. Maybe they might play it."
